What You Need to Know

Book Club. A place usually described as a dull boring room filed with a bunch of cotton headed ninny muggins. Yet, our little society of bookies is not that. (Well it might be to some people, but we do not see it that way). We are a group of mostly intellectuals who bring our witty charm to each of our quaint gatherings. While we all have our wits, book club gives us time to relax among other bookies, whether they read six novels a week or 1 novel every two years, and to talk about the books that make our hearts sing. We might all hail from different backgrounds with different stories. But those 50 minutes of DEN give us the time to just be us. No stories or baggage attached.

Everyone is welcome to BOOK CLUB at CPHS

We meet every other Friday during DEN

Reese Parker

 Club President

I am and have always have been a notorious book nerd, always being the girl with her nose in her book at the worst times.

A little bit about me:

  • I am a competitive Hunter Jumper. I am that crazy horse girl you see in every class!

  • I love fantasy, sci-fi, romance, mystery, and historical fiction

  • I am in DECA along with Book Club

  • And you can always find me in the mornings in the library camped out with friends talking about our newest favorite books!

  • In case you are a Harry Potter nerd, like myself, I am a Ravenclaw and my Patronus is a Tonkinese Cat and my wand is a Laurelwood with a Phoenix feather core 13" and Rigid flexibility

I am honored to be President of a club filled with such amazing people!

Debby Barnes

Club Facilitator

My name is Debby Barnes and I am the sponsor of the Cedar Park High School book club.  I am also the librarian and lead the student help desk, TimberTech. Although I have only been at CPHS 6 years, I have been a librarian since 2008, and before that, I taught elementary (mostly 5th graders, but also 2nd and 4th) for seventeen years.  Of course, I love to read! I enjoy books at all levels, but my favorite is YA. I enjoy fantasy, realistic, and historical fiction most, but occasionally I’ll find a sci-fi series I like or a non-fiction book that’s interesting. I also like to crochet, and I love animals.  I currently have two cats and three dogs. I train with my dogs to compete in dog agility events. I have two daughters and a step-son. My girls love to read, too. The boy not so much, but I didn’t add him to my family until he was a teenager. I’m sure if I had started with him when he was little, he’d be an avid reader, too.  For all you Harry Potter fans, my house is Ravenclaw and my Patronus is a dolphin.
